Job Description

Function : - Retail Banking

Reporting Authority : - Branch Manager

Job Purpose : -

  • The role holder would be responsible for managing overall branch operations by ensuring exceptional customer service, adherence to the Banks policies and internal control of the branch as well as reporting results.
  • The responsibility would also include branch administration activities such as IT, security, premises, materials, housekeeping etc.

Customer Service and Operations : -

  • Ensure superior customer service and adherence to banking guidelines on Suryoday.

  • Promptly address customer grievances and inform the Branch Manager when necessary.

  • Monitor branch footfalls for operational alignment.

  • Oversee banking operations and coordination with central processing hubs.

  • Maintain adequate stock of security items, passbooks, and required forms.

  • Handle internal controls and branch reporting.

  • Manage cash transactions, including cash management and record maintenance.

  • Approve key customer documents and ensure compliance in loan applications and account openings.

  • Conduct periodic account balancing and monitor fraud-prone items.

  • Scrutinize daily vouchers and ensure proper record management, including destruction of old records.

  • Ensure smooth IT operations, particularly at day's beginning and end.

  • Monitor annual indent of stationery and security items.

Branch Administration : -

  • Control branch expenses including telephone, stationery, and utilities without compromising quality.

  • Ensure timely payment of bills and taxes to avoid penalties.

  • Maintain office premises and provide basic amenities in consultation with the Branch Manager.

  • Update mandatory notices and interest rates on noticeboards.

  • Ensure adherence to bank policies, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Oversee extension counters and coordinate their functions.

  • Assist the Branch Manager with performance and capital expenditure budgets, and strategies for income growth.

  • Help in organizing staff and customer meetings.

Reporting & Compliance : -

  • Ensure compliance with banking guidelines, audits, and quality frameworks.

  • Adhere to KYC, AML, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Support auditors with the necessary information and ensure follow-ups on audit reports.

People Management : -

  • Assist the Branch Manager in distributing responsibilities among staff based on their skills and experience and facilitate job rotation.

  • Promote harmonious staff relations.

  • Manage staff administration, including files, advances, tax deductions, and leave sanctions.

  • Ensure staff punctuality and discipline, maintaining registers for attendance.

  • Provide feedback to the Branch Manager regarding staff performance and developmental needs.

Educational Qualification : -

  • BBA/BA/ BSc or equivalent
  • (PGDM/ MBA from a Tier 3 college preferred)

Relevant Experience : -

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in retail banking operations with good knowledge of banking products and regulatory requirements in banking
